هونجو کائدا توسط دوستش به بازی واقعیت مجازی‌ای دعوت میشه. کائده از بازی‌ها بدش نمیاد ولی واقعاً از درد کشیدن متنفره. اون شخصیتی به اسم ماپل درست میکنه و همه امتیازات شخصیت رو روی دفاع استفاده میکنه تا کمتر درد بکشه. به همین دلیل آهسته حرکت میکنه، نمیتونه از جادو استفاده کنه و حتی یک خرگوش هم شکستش میده. ولی مشخص میشه که چون همه چیزو روی دفاعش استفاده کرده مهارتی به نام «دفاع مطلق» بهش تعلق گرفته و اون تصمیم میگیره به یک ماجراجویی بره!
